Description of Plant:
This low-growing shrub features glossy green leaves and produces abundant 2-inch trumpet-shaped flowers in bright yellow. The blooms appear from spring through early summer and sporadically throughout the year. Its compact form and striking coloration make it a standout in native, rock, or pollinator gardens.

Growth Habit:
Grows 12–18 inches tall and spreads 18–24 inches wide, forming a neat, mounding shape.

Watering Instructions:
Once established, it is drought-tolerant. However, occasional summer watering can enhance bloom and foliage quality, particularly in hotter inland areas.

Soil Needs:
Prefers well-drained soils, including sandy or rocky types. Tolerates clay soils if not compacted.

Sun Requirements:
Thrives in full sun to partial shade. In hotter inland areas, some afternoon shade is beneficial.

Indoor or Outdoor Tips:
Best suited for outdoor cultivation in gardens, borders, or containers. Not typically grown indoors.

Perennial or Annual:
Perennial in USDA zones 9–11.

Additional Tips:

  • Deadhead spent blooms and lightly prune in fall or winter to maintain shape and prevent woodiness.
