Description of Plant:
This selection of California native purple sage is known for its dense, mounding form and aromatic, fuzzy gray-green leaves. In spring and early summer, it produces showy flower spikes with soft lavender to purple blooms arranged in whorls along tall stems. It brings both texture and color to native and drought-tolerant landscapes.
Growth Habit:
Rounded, spreading shrub reaching 3–5 feet tall and 4–8 feet wide, forming a soft, billowy mound.
Watering Instructions:
Very drought-tolerant once established. Water occasionally during the first year; after that, minimal to no summer water is needed.
Soil Needs:
Requires well-draining soil. Thrives in sandy or rocky soils and struggles in heavy, poorly drained clay.
