Description of Plant:
Erigeron glaucus is a California native perennial that produces cheerful lavender to pink daisy-like flowers with bright yellow centers over a long blooming season. From spring through fall, the colorful blooms brighten the garden while attracting butterflies, native bees, and other beneficial pollinators. In addition, its compact growth and tolerance for coastal conditions make it an excellent choice for borders, containers, rock gardens, and water-wise landscapes.
Growth Habit:
This low-growing, mounding perennial reaches 6–12 inches tall and spreads 12–24 inches wide. Its evergreen blue-green foliage forms a dense clump that provides year-round interest.
Watering Instructions:
Water regularly during establishment. Once established, provide occasional deep watering, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. It tolerates moderate drought once mature.
Soil Needs:
Prefers well-draining sandy or loamy soil but adapts to a variety of soil types with good drainage. It performs especially well in coastal gardens.
Sun Requirements:
Thrives in full sun along the coast and benefits from light afternoon shade in warmer inland areas of Southern California.
Indoor or Outdoor Tips:
Best grown outdoors in borders, rock gardens, coastal landscapes, containers, and pollinator gardens. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming.
